Legendary Band Chicago Visits American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge in Atlanta
Members of the legendary band Chicago, in Atlanta on July 12 for a concert at Chastain Amphitheater, took time out to visit with cancer patients at the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge in Atlanta. The band is using its star power and a nationwide summer tour to raise money for the Society and its fight against breast cancer. Robert Lamm, Lee Loughnane and Jimmy Pankow, all original members of Chicago, along with Jason Scheff and Keith Howland toured the Lodge, where cancer patients stay free of charge while undergoing cancer treatment. Band members talked with patients and their families, and posed for pictures and signed autographs. One patient, Rayburn McCormick of Heflin, Alabama, told the band he and his wife, Lucretia, had Chicago’s song “Color My World,” played at their wedding 34 years ago. It was an especially poignant moment since he made the comment to band member Jimmy Pankow, who wrote the song. Chicago is raising money for the American Cancer Society with its “Sing With Chicago” promotion, giving fans at a chance to bid on a VIP package that includes the opportunity to sing the hit song, “If You Leave Me Now” onstage with the band during the concert, two front-row tickets and a backstage pass.
