Tobias Liu, a second-grader at Woodward Academy North in Johns Creek and a violinist, recently performed at the Georgia Music Teachers Association’s convention held at Columbus State University. He was invited to the event after winning the elementary division of the association’s string competition in April. Tobias won the Outstanding Performer Convention Recitalist award, the highest honor given in the competition. His sister, Phoebe, also a violinist, is a sixth-grader at Woodward North and has won the same award for the middle- and upper-grade divisions in the last two years. Phoebe has also performed at association conventions.
